Although I am not religious, I am "spiritual", meaning I do believe in some things that we can't explain, higher forces, living your life in a positive way, live and let live, and "doing unto other how you would like to be done to" *girn* is a sensible way to live. I think if I were to adopt a religion it would be Buddhism, as it's not full of archaic rules on "right and wrong", "guilt and sin" and over prescriptive ways to live in a world vastly different one to the one in existence when many religious texts were written. (No implied criticism here by the way, I am happy for people to believe whatever they want to, as long as they don't try to enforce that belief on others, especially me!) Buddhism from my very limited study seems to be about acceptance, of yourself, of others, of life, that all these are imperfect and sometimes difficult to deal with, but that a positive and open mind can usually support you through anything. Hence I do have a few little Buddha statues around my house, and the calm smile and relaxed expression never ceases to make me mirror it myself in the same way and feel a sense of calm and joy wash over me. So here's a close up shot of one of them, with the hope that it does the same for you today. Nameste x
