The Natural History Museum at Tring

I hadn't been to the Natural History Museum at Tring since I was about 8 years old. And after having seen a GREAT photo documentary at her local NHM by Kaylah over at The Dainty Squid I just had to re visit! The museum was the private collection of Lionel Walter 2nd Baron Rothschild, the family gifted the museum and all it's contents to the nation in 1937. There are 6 galleries of thousands and thousands of stuffed and preserved animals, all in the original Victorian polished wood cabinets and and with spiral staircases and beautiful floors. It's like stepping back in time, and yet it was full of kids and parents having a wonderful time and filling in quiz sheets with crayons. I was pleased to see that it's not just technology that can engage kids, and the old school trips still work!
