The Natural History Museum at Tring

I hadn't been to the Natural History Museum at Tring since I was about 8 years old. And after having seen a GREAT photo documentary at her local NHM by Kaylah over at The Dainty Squid I just had to re visit! The museum was the private collection of Lionel Walter 2nd Baron Rothschild, the family gifted the museum and all it's contents to the nation in 1937. There are 6 galleries of thousands and thousands of stuffed and preserved animals, all in the original Victorian polished wood cabinets and and with spiral staircases and beautiful floors. It's like stepping back in time, and yet it was full of kids and parents having a wonderful time and filling in quiz sheets with crayons. I was pleased to see that it's not just technology that can engage kids, and the old school trips still work!

More raindrops

And I also captured some of the very GREEN greenery we have at the moment, again strung with sparkling rain drops, so maybe the rain isn't that bad after all. (I mean it IS of course, I am just trying to find the positive in it!! :) )

Raindrops

We are having nothing but RAIN this Jubilee Weekend :( But as I was out running I spotted some amazing water droplets on cobwebs, and so as soon as I was back and showered I jumped back out ad braved the rain to try out my close up lenses. So beautiful, like diamond necklaces... Diamond Jubilee Necklaces?? (tenuous I know...)

Low Key - Car details

A continuation of my attempts at Low Key, I was at a car show and thought I would combine some documentary photography of the day with some Low Key details on some black cars. The sunshine enabled me to under expose by 3 stops, and still keep it sharp and have the sun pick up the highlights on the chrome. I really like the effect! Kind of abstract. I think these would look nice as a series of shots printed and mounted together :)
